The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has said that his administration is poised towards ensuring the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
Arc. Dickson Ishaku made the remarks in Jalingo while commissioning ten Hilux Vehicles donated to the State Government by the Zenith Bank plc for security patrols.
Governor Ishaku commended the Bank for the gesture pointing out that the vehicles came in at the time every security Agency needed them for surveillance to combat crime wave for peace to reign in the state and assured the bank of sustained support and partnership.
He appealed to other Banks and corporate organizations to emulate Zenith Bank to rid the State of crime so as to create an enabling atmosphere for development by the present Administration.
The Governor who categorically said that war was not solution to any dispute in the society, emphasized the need for the people to always be willing to dialogue to achieve lasting peace in the State.
Arc. Ishaku called on the people of the state to live in peace and continue to be their brother’s keepers for the attainment of the desired peace which is panacea for development and progress.
He however, threatened to crush any individual or group that was working towards frustrating or undermining the efforts of Government for the attainment of peace and development and allocated the patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Prisons, Immigration Service, NDLEA, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police, NSCDC, Army Battalions in Takum and Serti and a Task Force to be set up on Security in the State.
Earlier, the Zonal manager of the Zenith Bank Karl Akwarandu said the donation of the ten hilux vehicles was part of the Bank’s corporate Social responsibility to the people of the state for their patronage as well as a support to the Governor’s efforts towards achieving lasting peace in the state.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Acting Commissioner of Police in the State, Bello Ahmed appreciated the Governor and Zenith Bank for the gesture, assuring that the vehicles will be judiciously used for the purpose intended.
Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku also took delivery of an Ambulance donated to the State by the National Primary Health Care Delivery Agency for maternal care and commended the Agency for the gesture which according to him will go along way to reduce the problems faced by child bearing women in the State.
Arc. Dickson recalled his electioneering campaign promise to provide good health care delivery services to the women especially pregnant ones in the state, and that he was already collaborating with International donors to establish modern maternity centers to be powered by solar across the local governments of the state to address maternal and child morbidity rate.
