In the past hundred days in office of the administration, Mrs. Anna Ishaku who met with women and youths at different meetings encouraged the women and youth to be proactive and rise to the challenge of development from the self to the larger society, as the government will provide the platform for the actualization of these goals, one of which is her pet project tagged, HOPE AFRESH FOUNDATION.

The wife of the Governor, Mrs. Anna Darius Ishaku during a reception organized in her honor in Jalingo by the Taraba state chapter of the National Council of Women’s Societies, NCWS, where she was decorated as the PATRON of the organization, said women must encourage and be supportive of themselves towards achieving set goals.

The wife of the Governor, who urged the NCWS to sustain the tempo in building unity among the women in the state, commended the organization for giving award to some of their members who distinguished themselves in humanitarian services in the society.

She described the recognition as source of encouragement to the awardees and other women, stressing that her pet project HOPE AFRESH FOUNDATION will appreciate collaboration with the women organization to rekindle the hope of the people, especially the down trodden in the society.

Mrs. Darius Ishaku, re-echoed the message when she met with individual women and youth groups, among them, women wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Federation of Muslim Women, FOMWAN, wives of CTC Chairmen, the physically challenged, market women, Tiv women, PDP, DDI Campaign Organization, to mention a few.

At these meetings the wife of the Governor said the women and youths must be organized and focused as they key into the Rescue Mission of the administration. She outlined the objectives of her pet project, HOPE AFRESH FOUNDATION, to include giving hope to the hopeless, tackle poverty across the state, protect the vulnerable, meet the specific needs of Tarabans and strengthen the state financially, stressing that through collaborations collectively, target goals will be achieved.

In matching word with action in the area of collaboration, the wife of the Governor jointly with the National Directorate of Employment, NDE and a Non-Governmental Organization, Solid Skills Consult trained over five hundred young men and women in skills acquisition programmes out of which over hundred were empowered to boost or start-up businesses of their own and be employers of labor.

During the training and empowerment exercises, the founder and initiator, HOPE AFRESH FOUNDATION, Mrs. Ishaku, said partnership with NGOs remains the watch word in the mission to renew hope in the people and rebuild the society.

During the period under review, the Wife of the Governor through her pet project HOPE AFRESH FOUNDATION collaborated with the state ministry of Women Affairs to wage war against the dreaded disease called cancer with the distribution of cancer testing kit to women across the state.

Mrs. Darius, while distributing the testing kit, described cancer as the deadliest disease which is more than HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria combined, hence the most potent poison.

She further stressed that the cancer scourge puts its victims through harrowing experience, slowly but systematically torturing and killing its victims and without a second chance for its victims.

The wife of the Taraba state Governor said that the distribution exercise is an extension of the war against cancer launched by the United States forty-four years ago, an Act in which all nations of the world keyed into and in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations at all levels attained appreciable level of successes, giving cancer victims second chance and reducing its spread.

Mrs. Anna Ishaku emphasized that, as a Non-Governmental Organization, the HOPE AFRESH FOUNDATION is collaborating with Ministry of Women Affairs to give hope to hitherto hopeless patients through enlightening the women of the state on the dangers of cancer and practical training on how to properly prevent the spread in the body through early detection using the testing kit, urging women to give serious attention to all effort aimed at halting the cancer scourge.

The Chief Medical Director, Specialist Hospital Jalingo, Dr. Rimamde Joel Ubandoma, led other consultant physicians to speak on causes, prevention and management of breast and cervical cancers, which are women related and demonstrated the usage of the breast cancer testing kit.

In this effort of Mrs. Anna Darius Ishaku reaching out and touching lives of the people, particularly women, youths and the less privileged at such an appreciable level within a hundred days in office of this administration, leaves one in no doubt that the rescue mission is right on course for the well being of the people.
