Groups Applaud Governor Darius Ishaku For Restoration of Peace in Taraba State

A coalition of various groups comprising of Market Women Association, Yams Dealers Association, Taraba Volunteer Group and Mumuye Cultural Stakeholders have described Governor Darius Ishaku as God-sent.

In a press statement jointly issued in Jalingo by the groups, the groups stated that the unprecedented peace that is currently being enjoyed across the state is credited to Governor Darius Ishaku’s astute leadership qualities and delivering on his campaign promises.

The Governor since assumption of office has held and continued to hold regular meetings with traditional and religious leaders as well as with cattle rearers and farmers in his resolve to bring about lasting peace in the state which is a panacea to wooing both local and foreign investors to come and tap the huge natural endowments of the state and create jobs for the teaming youths.

The groups noted that normalcy has since returned to both the Southern and central parts of the state that had hitherto been bedeviled by various ethno-political and religious crisis. Contractors are on site providing basic infrastructural facilities.

The popular Yam Markets of Wukari and Chanchanji are once again flourishing with the return of peace and traders from different parts of the country are seen trooping into the markets conducting business as usual. Market women and Yam Dealers are happy.

The internally displaced persons (I.D.Ps) are also returning and peacefully settling in their homes. The Groups commend Governor Darius Ishaku on his dexterity and matured way he handled the sensitive Kpanti Zing Chieftaincy tussle recently.

The Groups however, regret the recent tribunal judgment that caused the loss of lives and properties in Wukari and environs, but thanked the Governor on the astute way he handled the crisis from further escalation.

The groups view the judgment as an attempt to foist Government of the minority on the majority and call on the governor not to relent in his resolve to take the state to an enviable height in line with his popular slogan “Give me peace and by the grace of God I will give you development”.
