Cele 6Wife of  the Taraba State Governor Barr. Anna Darius Dickson Ishaku flagged on her Women Empowerment Programme as promised last week.

The event took place at the Taraba State University Skills Acquisition Center Jalingo.

The programme is an initiative of her projects in collaboration with Taraba State University Jalingo.

She was represented by the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development Hon. Lois Emmanuel extolled the virtue of the governor’s wife as a mother who has the youth at heart and has vowed to give hope and put smiles on the faces of women, youths and the downtrodden in the society.

In her keynote address, she stressed that the initiative is in line with Governor Darius’s rescue mission in the State.

She said the programme would commence immediately, and plans are on the way to also look at youth Empowerment soon.Cele 3

She further stated that Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku is passionate about Empowering Tarabans that is why she thought it wise to harness and channel youth Empowerment into Entrepreneurship to better their future.

The trainees were also called upon to take their training serious and respect constituted authority.

The Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University, Professor Mohammed Yahaya represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Admin. Dr. Catherine Musa in her speech appreciated the efforts of Her Excellency and see their partnership as a good thing for the development of the state. She also called on stakeholders in the state to join hands and compliment government efforts towards women and youths empowerment.

The coordinator of the programme, Engr. Dr. Nicholas Oliver Namesan promised not to fail her Excellency Barr. Anna Darius Dickson Ishaku initiative through proper training of the pioneer trainees of the skills acquisition center.

He said the partnership with the wife of the governor would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of most families in the state.

Engr. Dr. Nicholas Oliver Namesan said the center is strategic on youths and women empowerment hence the need for the government to always pay attention to the center to meet its set design.

Registrar of the Taraba State University Dr. Joseph Lukas in his vote of thanks, appreciate the wife of the governor for the kind gesture and promised that the leadership of the Taraba State University would give her full support to succeed in her right plans for the people of the state.

Some pioneer trainees of the Women Empowerment Programme thanked the governor’s wife for the initiative of empowering the less privileged and said she would always be smiling as she has put smiles on the faces of the less privileged.

Miss Mercy Julius, who is in charge of the catering unit, appreciated the state government for opening the center and sees it as a welcome development that would discourage idleness and irresponsibility among the unemployed youth.Cele 5

The government entourage went round to various units of the Skills Acquisition Center which includes catering unit, Makeup unit, hairdressing unit, showroom, internet café, fashion design, tailoring unit, cosmetics and pomade making unit.

She said the first set of the women trainee would be trained on cosmetics and pomade making.
