Taraba State Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku has reiterated his administration’s determinationto effectively transform every sphere of Taraba State.

Governor Darius Ishaku stated this yesterday at the Government house, Jalingo, when the Police Officers Wives Association POWA, paid him a courtesy visit.

The Governor said, Taraba state is a buffer zone in the north east and is presently being threatened by invasion from both displaced persons and insurgents who disguise themselves as herdsmen.

According to him, the state is ready to accept every visitor provided such visitors have genuine intention to stay in the state and coexist peacefully, explaining that recently the police paraded about 13 notorious herdsmen that have been causing havoc in the state, adding that kidnapping is also becoming rampant in the state and vowed that all hands will be on deck to ensure all forms of criminality is stopped and offenders prosecuted.

He further stated that, he has the mandate to protect people of the state,emphasising that is a responsibility he intends to carry out effectively and efficiently as well as do everything possible to make Taraba unconducive for people that are in the state to cause  trouble.

The Governor also donated a plot of land to the Taraba State Chapter of POWA for the construction of a Police Children School and stated that his rescue agenda in the state is already in full swing and urged all to support him for its success.

Earlier in her speech, the wife of the Inspector General of the Federation, Mrs. Agharase Arase who is the chairman, POWA said, she was in the state with her colleagues who are also senior officers wives to familiarize with the police officers wives in the state and to inform them on the activities of the association at the headquarters.

Represented by the wife of the DIG force criminal intelligence and investigation department DCII, Mrs. Jerusha Katso stated that, one of the objectives of their visit in the state was to scrutinize POWA’s activities with a view to making necessary adjustments.

Mrs. Katso said POWA is a non political, non partisan,and non religious institution, rather it is a voluntary association of Wives of Police Officers who have come together to pool resources and better the lives of their families, in order to enable their husbands concentrate maximally in securing the country for further advancement.

She also informed the Governor that Taraba state police command is among police commands in the country that is without police children school and used the opportunity to solicit for a plot of land for the establishment of a school, pointing out that the school when operational would be opened to the general public.

Accordingly, the team leader, told the governor that she is a proud daughter of the state and her husband a proud Taraban hence the need to collectively collaborate with the present administration for the development and progress of the state.
