The people of Bali Local Government Area have been called upon to take advantage of the Electrification project in their domain to create wealth for themselves and help fast track development in the state.
Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku made the call on Friday, while commissioning the Bali Rural Electrification Project at Angwan Tiv in Bali town.
According to him, the project was started by the last administration and expanded by his administration, adding that, electricity is viable and fundamental in creating employment and would equally trigger socio-economic development of the Local Government by engaging the youths positively, thereby reducing restiveness and criminality in the area.
He maintained that, when the mind is meaningfully engaged taking advantage of the electricity, practicing a trade or any form of artisanship would go a long way in improving the living standard of the people, stressing that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.
Speaking further, the Governor said he will continue to re- echo the slogan, ”give me peace and I will give development”, emphasizing that it has become part of his rescue agenda, adding that peace is a basic ingredient upon which development will thrive, charging them to effectively put into use the concept of neighbour as contained in the two Holy books, the Bible and the Quran.
Governor Ishaku said so far, he has commissioned two projects in Gembu, one in Kunini, a town in Lau local government, Bakin Dutse in Ardo Kola Local Government and now Bali, adding that many more would soon be commissioned.
He informed the crowd that he intends to provide Communities with Mini Hydro Dams, as well as identify areas that would be suitable for Solar Power Generation in the state an also commence mechanized rice farming in Gassol Local Government Area, explaining that, some of the bottle-neck that stalled the commencement of one of the largest rice farming in the country would be addressed next week.
He tasked the Chairman, traditional rulers, security agencies and people of Bali local government to be security conscious because the state is faced with influx of people challenging them to report any suspicious person to the relevant authority so that the peace being enjoyed would be sustained.
In his speech during the program, the Commissioner, Rural Electrification, Hon. Alexander Senlo said the present administration’s target is to improve power generation in the state, explaining that electricity has been discovered to be a veritable and fastest source of driving micro economic development in any society.
Alexander Senlo said he is optimistic that the people of Bali will protect the facility considering its economic importance to the area and people of the State and averred that the rescue mission has captured rural transformation as a key priority and called on the people to accord the present administration the desired support so that the rescue impact would be felt throughout the State.
Also speaking, the Caretaker Chairman of Bali, Danladi Danfulani Suntai appreciated his Excellency for coming to the rescue of the people, stating that when he was appointed the Caretaker Chairman, he intimated the Governor on some of the challenges faced by the Local Government Council with particular emphasis on electrification and today electricity is a reality, a pleading with the Governor to make the long term plan of connecting the area to the National Grid a short term plan since this one has been achieved within a very short time.
The chairman assured the Governor of the support of Bali people and maintained that Bali is a viable area for Agricultural activities and used the opportunity to solicit for citing of more projects in the area.
