TakumWife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku today flagged off the free Medical Rescue Outreach in Takum Local Government Area of the State, saying the choice of Jalingo and Takum as pilot centers is due to the fact that charity begins at home.

Barr. Ishaku while addressing the gathering at the CRCN Comprehensive Health Centre Takum, stated that, the Bible admonishes us to mourn with those who mourn and celebrate with those who do.

Consequently, she called on the public to pray for as well as support the sick, pointing out that people take their health issues for granted and no longer show concern for the sick.

She urged the people to join hands with her in her mission of restoring hope to destitutes, stressing that “my pride is for people to say we and the Governor’s wife did this than for them to say the Governor’s wife did this”, adding that their mission is to reach beyond medical intervention into the hearts of the people.

The Governor’s wife further commended the medical team for being on ground before her arrival, pointing out that she is happy with the constitution of the team which is made up of young retired nurses, expressing hope that the programme will go a long way in assisting the people.

Barr. Anna Ishaku had earlier took time to appreciate the Vice Chairman for adding to what they had brought, Mrs. Kezia for being a great mobiliser, the patients for availing themselves and her Hope Afresh Staff for being a pillar of support, spending nights and travelling long hours to see to the success of her mission.

Speaking earlier, the representative of the Commissioner for  Health, the Principal Medical Officer, General Hospital Takum, Dr. Oduniyi Sunday while appreciating her Excellency for providing such a platform to reach out to the grassroots, explained that the outreach means, increasing access to health care as well as reducing risk through education.

The PMO urged the health care workers to seize the opportunity to upgrade their skills, stressing that the turnout of the patients is a reflection of the fact that, they have been sick for a long time but could not access healthcare due to lack.

The Head of Medical Team, Dr. Elisha Ephraimu also commended the initiative of her Excellency in providing free medical services to the sick, pointing out that health is wealth.

He pledged the team’s support for the programme, praying God to grant the Governor’s wife wisdom and sound health to continue the good works.

In their separate remarks, the Vice Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Hon. Shiban Tikari and Community Leader, Baba Shidi,  appreciated her Excellency for the laudable project, stressing that it  shows the heart of a mother who is truly concerned over the welfare of her children.

She was later taken round to inspect the facilities on ground, as well as had her BP checked and eyes examined.
