Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has bagged an award of Excellence in recognition of her immense contribution to the growth of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Women’s Wing and selfless service to humanity.

Barr. Anna DariusThe Award which was given to her and nine others at the Eighth Annual Convention of CAN Women’s Wing, WOWICAN Kaduna State, with the theme, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” Joshua 24:16, was held at the Throne Room Trust Ministry, Hospital Road Kafanchan, Jama’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Barr. Anna Ishaku congratulated WOWICAN on their Eighth Annual Convention as well as for considering her and the others for the honour, noting that it will spur them to do more.

The Governor’s wife stated that, the theme of the Convention brings a lot of memories and questions concerning our stand with God, taking into cognisance the trials and challenges Christians go through due to their faith, encouraging them to make the decision just like Joshua did no matter the trials.

According to her, she has served under three Governors as Solicitor- General during her service with the Kaduna State Government and her memorable times was when she was in the Ministry of Justice as she came across a lot of Kaduna Women, describing them as hardworking, as work even at the expense of their Children, praying God to help them reap the fruits of their labour.

She further called on Women to respect their husbands and bring up their Children in the way they should grow for a better society.

Earlier, the Governor of Kaduna, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, represented by the Director-General, Bureau for Interfaith, Nemadi Musa said the Governor decided to send him instead of a woman as his representative in recognition and high esteem he holds for the women of the state, as they pulled most of the votes that brought his administration to power.

Nemadi said, it is in appreciation of that that the Governor made a woman the Commissioner of Justice for the first time in Kaduna State, adding that the administration is also doing all within its power to see that women are empowered through training in various skills to make them self reliant.

The Director- general observed that the trend of ethno-religious differences and socio-political disunity in the state negates the principles of the founding fathers, hence the need for synergy between the Bureau, CAN and other relevant bodies in the implementation of Government policies on peace, security, reconciliation and religious harmony.
