Wife of Taraba State Governor has hosted Children from various Schools to mark the Children’s Day Celebration which started at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.
Speaking during the event which was held at the Hope Afresh Foundation Multipurpose Hall, Jalingo, the Wife of the Governor who was visibly elated by the programme stated that, they have always been educated by adults but today was a day to listen to children educate them on the need for peaceful coexistence.
According to her, the children have demonstrated through their presentations that they are tired of pain, sorrow and chaos as most of the adults seated never experienced such turbulence while growing up and it is unfair to make the children pass through such trauma.
She expressed hope that the present generation will pass on a more secured baton to the upcoming generation, stressing that the children seem ready to take over power from them as they seem to have failed them.
She called on the children to study hard in school and excel, so that when the time comes for them to take over leadership, they will be prepared for it.
Earlier in her welcome address, the administrative secretary to the wife of the Governor, Barr. Nunrimam Dashe welcomed the guests and urged them to relax and enjoy themselves as they were in safe hands.
She said the programme was put together by their mother and grandmother, the wife of Governor, therefore they will leave the place happier than they came in.
In their separate responses, Bright Ekpenyong and Aisha Yusuf from Grace Junior Academy and Al-Baz Academy respectively expressed delight over the occasion, saying it was interesting and had created a platform for them to learn more on peace initiatives as well as interact with others.
They appreciated the Governor’s wife for the wonderful time created for them, adding that they have learnt that living in peace and unity is the only way forward for the State.
The Programme Manager of the Hope Afresh Foundation, Mrs. Helen Douglas appreciated Barr. Anna Ishaku for putting smiles on the faces of the children as well as thanked the teachers for their efforts in the lives of the children.
Highlights of the event include, presentation of playlets, songs, papers, discussion and dance with her Excellency.
