In its continued efforts at empowering Tarabans through Skills Acquisition, the wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, through her Hope Afresh Foundation Thursday flagged off a Skills Acquisition Training Scheme for the people of Chanchanji in Takum Local Government Area of the State.

Anna Darius Ishaku who was represented by her Programmes Manager, Mrs. Helen Douglas Saba urged the participants to take advantage of the golden opportunity granted them to acquire skills that will help improve their economic standard as well as make them self reliant.

She said the mission of the Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, is to give hope to the hopeless, saying the passion and concern of the Governor’s wife for them has prompted this Programme, which  consist of 3 days training in Cosmetics and 6 months training in Welding and Tailoring aimed at empowering them, charging them to be humble and serious during the training to enable them learn skills that will better their lot.

Mrs. Douglas further called on the people to pray for the Governor’s wife and the present administration to succeed in the task ahead so that Tarabans will experience more dividends of democracy.

In a goodwill message, the President of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association of Taraba State, Mr. Goodman Dahida commended the Governor’s wife for her laudable programmes for the people of Chanchanji and the entire State,stressing that she listens to the plight and challenges of Tarabans.

He pledged the community’s support to the present administration to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the State and called on the trainees to take the exercise seriously so as to acquire the needed skills.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman Elders Forum, Chanchanji ward, Hon. Joseph Kyanden Useh and the Clergies in charge of Ahmadu  Parish and NKST Peva, Rev. Father Nicholas Kyukundu and Rev. Pst  James Ityorwua Yuhwan all expressed gratitude to her Excellency for her initiative to ensure the people have a better life so as to contribute their quota to the development of the Community, State and the Country at large.

In his vote of thanks, the PDP Chairman Chanchanji ward, Mr. Jacob Torhile commended the Governor’s wife for fulfilling her campaign promises by giving the Women and Youths the opportunity to be useful to themselves, their families and the Society at large.
