As a follow-up to the meeting with Stakeholders from the Northern Senatorial Zone of Taraba State held on 12th April 2016, wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku today flagged off the Northern Zone Skills Acquisition Training Programme.
Speaking during the Flag-Off ceremony held at the Hope Afresh Foundation office,Jalingo, Barr. Anna Ishaku stated that the programme is a product of the fruitful deliberations with stakeholders from the zone sometimes back.
She said the training which is holding first in the Northern Zone will be extended to the Central and Southern zones, stressing that the same procedure would be followed.
The Governor’s wife who said she derives satisfaction from training and empowering others, called on the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the training as there is need for diversification in other to improve standard of living as well as the economy of the State.
She then Flagged Off the programme to the glory of God and to the benefit of the trainees, their families, Communities and the Society at large.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman Jalingo Local Government Area, Alh. Nasiru Boboji commended efforts of the Governor and his wife in initiating programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
He urged the participants to take advantage of the training and pledged to support the programme by establishing a Skills Acquisition Center in Jalingo.
In their separate paper presentations, the resource persons, Mr. Salihu Yahaya Emeje and Mrs. Shitta Habu emphasised on the need for diversification, stressing that for the first time in the history of Taraba State, God has sent a woman as the Governor’s wife to nip Taraba’s problem in the bud.
They also pointed out areas to improve and grow an economy to include; personal savings, local banking, patience, good public relations among others.
While presenting the list of participants to her Excellency for the flag-off, the programmes manager to the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Helen Douglas explained that the programme involves 5 different Skills which include; Cosmetics, Tailoring, Mechanics, Carpentry and Welding to be carried out in two points in the various Local Government Areas.
Others who also spoke include, the Administrative officer, Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, Barr. Nunrimam Dashe and wife of ALGON Chairman, Mrs. Jane Agya.
