The wife of the Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku who is concerned with bequeathing profitable, useful and marketable skills to the unemployed in the State, has flagged off a Vocational Skills training programme for Jalingo Local Government Area.
The programme which started today at the Hassan Primary School, Jalingowas declared opened by the Programme Manager of the Hope Afresh Foundation, Mrs. Helen Douglas who represented the Governor’s wife.
She disclosed that the programme is being effectively monitored to ensure that beneficiaries are well equipped.
She stated that Her Excellency is committed to helping the less privileged in the State, hence the use of the programme to empower the people and requested for more prayers to enable the present administration deliver more dividends of democracy.
The Skills Acquisition training programme is organized for unskilled school leavers and the unemployed and would include training in cosmetology, tailoring, welding and motor mechanics.
However, trainings in tailoring, welding and motor mechanics were suspended due to lack of organization on the part of the Jalingo Local Government Council.
The Local Government Chairman, Mr. Nasiru Boboji who was represented by Mr. Danjuma Angelou, however disclosed that they would put their house in order and communicate a new date to the Foundation.
