Taraba State Government is to establish one Skills Acquisition Center in each of the Senatorial zones of the State to encourage entrepreneurship development.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku disclosed this while inspecting the abandoned premises of Ministry of Works in Takum Local Government Area which may be converted to one of the centers.

The harsh economic realities confronting many Nigerians suggest that Government at all levels must seek ways of creating jobs and wealth for the people.

One of such measures is the encouragement of entrepreneurship by providing adequate skill training in manufacturing and production of goods to individuals, who will end up self reliant and employers of labour.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku after inspecting the abandoned State Ministry of Works Office in Takum said, the place is likely to be converted to a Skills Acquisition Center since it already has a work shop and it is nearer to the town.

He revealed that the Government has already contacted some experts from Germany for grant in the provision of equipment and training of participants.

As many State Governments blame the delay in the payment of workers salaries on the present economic recession, and many companies are laying off some of their staff to cut cost of operation, Governor Ishaku is hopeful that entrepreneurship remains the best option for jobs and wealth creation in order to overcome the challenge.

He said all the necessary framework will be put in place to ensure the sustainability of the programme to prevent abandonment after his tenure.
