In continuation of feasibility studies by German investors aimed at creating employment opportunity to the teeming populace of the state, the team was in Lau Local Government to inspect the Lau Tomatoes Company, which has been lying fallow for over three decades.

The team leader of the German investors, Engr. Michael Struve in the company of the Commissioner of Commerce and Industries and some officials of the Ministry inspected the Lau Tomatoes company which has suffered a long period of abandonment where both the structure and equipment are in a sorry state.
Engr. Struve said they would be able to revive the company and pointed out that all the equipment in the company is obsolete. The Engr. stated that the only option is to renovate the place and replace the existing equipment with modern ones that are faster and can produce at a very high speed both regarding quality and quantity.
He explained that German technology is among the best in the world and stressed that they would do everything possible to assist the state Governor in realizing his dream of reviving the Lau Tomatoes company.
Engr. Struve commended Governor Darius Ishaku for having the vision of reviving the company, stressing that, it will go a long way in creating more jobs for the people of the state and even beyond.
He asserted that the vision of the State Governor would soon be realized if only government will fulfill its part of the agreement including the provision of necessary infrastructures such as roads, water, and power which are the critical and essential component for the survival and sustenance of any viable company.
Engr. Struve maintained that his team is ready to collaborate with the Rescue Mission of the state Government so that development will thrive speedily in the state and averred that the body language of the Governor shows his readiness to create jobs across the board in the state.
The German investor described Taraba as an investment haven that every potential investor would be interested in and pointed out that God has enormously blessed the state, stressing that all that is required at the moment is the political will of government to kick start partnering with expatriates that will committedly assist the state to harness the abundant natural resources in the state.
Also commenting, the Commissioner of Commerce and Industries, Hon. Iliya Ajibu expressed government determination towards turning around of all public facilities in the state to (or “intending to”) tackling unemployment problem in the state.
Iliya Ajibu maintained that all government industries had been captured in the Rescue Mission of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.
The Commisioner expressed optimism that very soon all the earmarked companies will start receiving government attention to (or “intending to”) making them viable and vibrant with the sole objectives of creating jobs and to equally improve on the revenue profile of the state.
In his contribution, the project facilitator who is a Nigerian based in Germany, Saturday Jackson said Governor Ishaku is poised to bring succor to the people of the state.
Mr. Jackson added that as a Nigerian he would support the initiative of the Governor by broadening the scope of the partnership that is not captured in the first MoU.
He commended Governor Ishaku for having the interest of his people at heart by bringing development closer to the population of the state in spite of the financial challenges being faced in the country.
He also asserted that his choice to partner with German investor is the best stressing that very soon the people of Taraba will experience the best of German expertise.
Also, the Caretaker Chairman of Lau Local Government, Hon. Nicholas Waniyafiwani appreciated the effort of Governor Darius Ishaku through the rescue mission aimed at improving the livelihood of the people of the state and pointed out that what the people of the state desires at this particular time is to feel the impact of government most especially in bringing development closest to them.
Hon. Waniyafiwani revealed that he is determined to mobilise the people of his local government to support the wonderful initiative of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku so that they can benefit maximally from the partnership and added that they have fervently prayed for the reactivation of the Tomatoes Company for long.
The CTC Lau asserted that God has finally answered their collective prayers and said soon Lau will join league of local Governments with industries in the country.
The team also inspected the Taraba Quarry and Asphalt plant along Wukari road, the Technobat Housing estate, two parcel of lands along Kona Garo road and opposite NYSC orientation camp near Sibre in Ardo Kola local Government.
Chief of Army Staff in Jalingo
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar was in Jalingo on Sunday to commiserate with the family of late Alhaji Aliyu Baba who died on the 22/10/2016, after a brief illness.
Shortly after his arrival at the deceased compound prayers were offered for the soul of the deceased and his family which was led by Retired Grand Khadi Abdulmumuni Mohammed and Grand Khadi Ahmed Bose.
The Chief of Air Staff then commensurated with the entire family members of the deceased, particularly, Air Commodore Kabiru Aliyu who is a professional colleague of the CAS and the present Commanding officer, Commanding 106 Air force Camp Abuja, and his sister who is the wife of Chief of Army Staff and the current President of Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association NAOWA, Mallama Umul Kalsun Tukur Buratai who is also the daughter of the deceased.
The Chief of Air Staff, SB Abubakar who declined interview with the press said his visit to the State was personal.
The son of the deceased, Air Commodore Kabiru Aliyu then used the opportunity and appreciated the Taraba State Government for the wonderful support accorded them during their moment of grief and also appreciated the people that stood with them during the family’s most difficult moment.

The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), has lifted the ban on local government election in the state.
Chief Electoral officer of the state, Philip Duwe, disclosed this to newsmen at the conference hall of TSIEC in Jalingo.
He said by the power conferred on the Commission under section six of the Taraba state independent electoral law, number six of the 2002 and other enabling laws of section thirty of the Electoral Act 2010, it has declared ninety days notice for the conduct of local government elections in the state.
Philip Duwe said the ninety days notice was to enable the Commission and political parties prepare for the election.
The Chief Electoral Officer said TSIEC is an institution charged with the duty and responsibility of conducting and organizing local government elections in the state.
He emphasized that the Commission is under oath to do the right thing and would not favor any political party or candidate.
Philip Duwe charged politicians to go back to their enclave and canvass for votes by seeking the mandate of their people, stating that the commission would conduct a free and transparent election by providing a level playing ground for all political parties.
He mentioned that the media briefing is a prelude to the process of the conduct of the election.

Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has reaffirmed his commitment to reposition the State owned media houses in the state to be vibrant in order to meet up with the people’s quest for qualitative information dissemination in the State.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sylvanus Yakubu Giwa, pointing out that, Governor Ishaku is poised to ensure all the broadcast stations in the State meet up with the stipulated deadline for migration from analogue to digital platform by June 2017.
The press release indicates that the Governor is impressed with the ongoing test transmission from the new studio of Taraba Television Corporation and expressed his administration’s readiness to provide the station with all the necessary equipment that will enable the station meet the requisite standard in digital broadcasting.
Accordingly, the release enjoined the staff of Taraba Television Corporation to take advantage of the state-of-the-art facilities and be committed and to equally raise their prestigious vocation to an enviable standard both locally and internationally.
Similarly, the release states that, the official commissioning of the facility is in the pipeline and plans are ongoing to move the Television station to its permanent site to enhance performance and effective operations.
In furtherance of the digitization process, the press release indicates that Similar arrangement have already been concluded to commence the upgrading of Taraba State Broadcasting Service to equally kick start digital broadcasting in the State.
The release as authored by the SSA Media and Publicity underscores the importance of sufficient manpower, describing it as critical to the digitization requirements and stressed that, government is conscious of all and adequate arrangements have also been put in place for the media house not to lag behind in all facets of modern broadcasting.
Also captured in the Press Release is that, the Governor is optimistic that the Rescue Mission of his administration will avail the populace suitable platforms for constructive engagement with the Government and the wider society through the state media houses in terms of qualitative coverage of events such as news, education, entertainment, economic revolution and social development among others.
