Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson, has directed the Acting Manager Taraba Gas Company to submit three months progress report of the company to enable Government asses the viability of the company with a view to working out modality that will further help the company access more loans.
Governor Darius Ishaku gave the directive today when he inspected the company to ascertain its viability to the people of the State and how the first 20 million Naira loans that was approved by the State Government and issued to the Company through the Taraba Savings and Loans was utilised.
The Governor who was visibly happy with the beehive of activities within the facility expressed optimism that, the speed with which the company is marketing its products shows that it is determined to key into the Rescue Mission of his administration that the focus is to give Taraba people the best.
He maintained that the policy thrust of his administration is to make life comfortable for Tarabans and explained that it would only be possible if people of the State begin to handle Government facility as their personal belonging so that the generation yet unborn will also come to take advantage of.
Darius Ishaku also assured the acting General Manager of Taraba Gas that he will fulfill the promise he made to the company by providing the company with a truck that would be used in the conveying produce and advised the Acting Manager to have a sense of commercialization so that the company will stand on its own without depending on Government for support.
The Governor challenged the management to be proactive and vibrant in order to expand the company by employing more hands to help it reaching out to the wider society with their services and said what he had seen is a total departure from the usual waste that is the common practice with Government property.
The State Governor advised the management not to relent in the good work they have started, but rather improve on it stressing that the rescue mission of his administration is desirous to partner with people who are focused and poised to effect positive change in the society.
Conducting the Governor round the rejuvenated Gas Plant, the Acting General Manager, Timothy Fanya said he took over the place when it was virtually a non-functional outfit and appreciated the State Governor for graciously approving loan for the immediate take off of the company and asserted that the company is now rescued and revived and repositioned as a revenue generating outfit for Government.
Timothy Fanya informed the Governor that, the N20 million that the company received as loan has been judiciously utilised, covering the purchase of more goods for the company and the opening of a new sales outlet at ATC junction aimed at taking services closer to the people.
Other areas touched included the purchase of a tricycle for home services and the renovation of some parts of the office complex and informed the Governor that the company has started the repayment of the loan and said progress report for the past three months are ready and will be forwarded to his office.
He solicited for additional working capital to enable them expand and take advantage of the business opportunity that abound in the State and beyond.
Timothy Fanya said the new management is optimistic not to fail the good intention of Government and reiterated his team readiness to support the present administration to succeed.
The areas inspected by the Governor Darius Ishaku included the warehouse, dispensing units, the workshop and the display of the auto Gas Burner.
