Students of Taraba State University have been advised to take their studies seriously so as to become better persons in the State and the Country at large.
Governor Darius Ishaku’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Sylvanus Yakubu Giwa and the Chief Press Secretary, Hassan Mijinyawa jointly gave the advice yesterday when the officials of Taraba State Students Union of Taraba State University paid them a courtesy visit to partner with them in their respective offices.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity said the present administration is working out ways to effectively reposition the University so that it will be comparable to any University in the State, Country and beyond.
Sylvanus Giwa maintained that the task ahead now is to make the learning environment in the University comfortable and conducive to both staff and students and challenged the students not to indulged themselves in activities that will ridicule the name of the institution and equally bring disrepute to their families and task them to generate ideas that will move the institution and the State forward.
He added that peace is key to the development of every society and likened the academic environment as a community that is heterogeneous, which thrives mostly on peaceful coexistence built on tolerance and encouraged all to ensure perfect peace in the academic environment so that Government too will be apt in responding to issues that affects the institution as well as assured them of his support and partnership.
Similarly, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hassan Mijinyawa said the present administration is poised to carry students along taking into consideration that they are the leaders of tomorrow.
Hassan Mijinyawa reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to accord students special attention in order to make vibrant and productive members of the society while reminding them that they are the future leaders of the State, charging them not to allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous people that are envious of their current academic pursuit.
He assure the TASU official that Government will partner with them in areas that will promote the State and project it in good light saying he will identify and support all their activities at all times.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team who is also the President of the Taraba State Students Union TASU, Bulus Azeptu accompanied by the Patron of the Union, Alhaji Tukur Abba Tukur who is the Galadima Muri said they are in their office to solicit for support and partnership with the sole objective of keying into the Rescue Mission of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku with a view to helping the State move forward.
Bulus used the opportunity to seek for partnership most especially in sensitizing its members on the activities of the present administration and keeping them abreast at all times and also informed the two media Aides of the forth coming Taraba State University, TASU day, stressing that series of events have already been lined up to showcase the potentials of the State that includes, cultural dances, launching of the Union Almanac among other activities.
