Governor Darius Ishaku is committed and working hard for the growth and development of Taraba state, even in a time of economic recession. Making this point, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Public Affairs, Emmanuel Bello, said the governor is focused on delivering on his campaign promises. In a statement, Bello further noted that citizens should be patient as the government is working round the clock to deal with virtually all the issues concerning their welfare.
Bello said, “you only need to speak to Governor Ishaku for a minute and you get the sense that he is thoroughly committed to the growth and development of our dear state. And he is not just paying lips service. He is sincerely working round the clock. But we also need to appreciate the hard work and planning which comes with this. Funds from the federation purse are dwindling and the people’s needs are mounting. So the governor and his team are fast thinking out of the box to find ways of meeting goals. One way he is doing is to beef up Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). That is why many of the appointees have all fanned out into the hinterlands to find other source of incomes apart from a few well known sources.”
Bello said the citizenry must complement government efforts by cooperating with the governor and his team. He said, “we are now in a situation where bickering, murmurs and unnecessary criticisms won’t help. It is our state and we must all put hands on deck. Just engaging in blame games won’t help. Unwarranted verbal attacks may be entertaining to some but it won’t put food on the table. We all have to feel the need to be involved and hold up the governor’s hands as he strives harder, amidst the harsh economic realities, to bequeath a prosperous state to us.”
