gov-dariusTaraba State Government has reiterated its determination to train more women and youths in many vocational skills that will enhance their living standard to fast track development in the State.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku said this today when he undertook an on the spot monitoring of both trainers and trainees in their respective places of training with a view to ensuring that all the trainees have reported at their respective areas for the training exercises.

Represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Hon. Rebo Usman stated that, the inspection exercise is going to be continuous in order to ensure compliance on both the trainers and the trainees.

Rebo Usman maintained that the Rescue Watch has already taken off, stressing that it is the beginning of positive signs that women and youths in the State will actively participate in activities that will have impact on them and the Society at large.

He said time has come to look inward considering the hardship people of this country are facing at the moment and pointed out that the vision of Arc. Darius Ishaku is to fashion out ways that the people of the State will be self reliant and able to cope with the harsh economic reality of the country.

The Chief of Staff reiterated Governor Ishaku’s resolve to get more vibrant women and youths in the State into learning trades to sustain themselves and be of help to their families since Government may not be able to provide white-collar jobs for all her Citizens.

Accordingly, Hon. Rebo Usman disclosed that those that will be trained will be equipped with all the tools for the various trades they will have to learn so that when the get back to their respective places they will be able to stand on their own, asserting that this time around participants will be adequately catered for and their allowances will be promptly paid and which is meant to boost their moral in order to be dedicated and committed to the trades they have chosen.

He added that the programme is expected to last for three months which requires intensive training on the part of the trainers, pointing out that Government will only partner with outfits that have lived up to the terms and conditions spelt out, stressing that the era of wastage is long gone and trainer that fails to operate within ambit of the agreement will be made to refund the money paid to such training outfit.

The Chief of Staff who doubles as the Coordinator of the Rescue Watch pointed out that Government will not condone any act of truancy on the part of the trainees with a warning that any trainee that is found wanting would be shown the way out because Government has committed huge resources for them to be trained and become useful to themselves, the Society, State and the Country at large.

Hon. Rebo Usman further disclosed that other areas that are not captured in the training would be looked into with a view to capturing all human endeavours that will give meaning to the people of the State.

Also speaking during the inspection visit, the Special Adviser on Manifestos and Implementation, Hon. Sadiq Mbulo advised the trainees to be dedicated to their chosen vocations in order to derive maximum benefit of Government’s huge investment in their training.

Hon. Sadiq Mbulo also used the opportunity to tasks all the trainers to always log the attendance of each trainee so that Government will be able to monitor the level of commitment of each trainee with a view to knowing whether a trainee is actually committed to the trade he or she has picked to learn.

While on the part of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty alleviation which is the supervisory Ministry, the Permanent Secretary, Mallam Lawan Yakubu said the Ministry is poised to carry out its duty diligently in order to be apt with the responsibility bestowed on them by the Governor.

Lawan Yakubu maintained that, the ministry will ensure total compliance with the ideals of the present administration which is built on making lives meaningful to all Tarabans and added that the Ministry has already divided the staff of the Ministry into groups so that there will be effective supervision exercise, asserting that the Ministry cannot afford to betray the trust that the Rescue Mission has reposed on them.

Most of the trainers visited appreciated Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for giving them the opportunity to train people so as to become better persons in the Society and assured the team that they will do their best in order to meet the time frame.

They called on Government to ensure that the laudable programme that is meant to teach people to become better persons in the Society is sustained, positing that it will help reduce criminality in the State.

The trainees also, appreciated Governor Darius Ishaku for coming to their rescue through the Rescue Mission of his administration and for fulfilling his campaign promises, assuring that they will do their best to justify huge Government spending on them.

The places visited by the Rescue Watch team included, three shoes making outlets, three hairdressing salons, three tailoring centers, one welding and fabrication outlet, Jalingo Business School and a furniture making outlet all within Jalingo metropolis.
