The Taraba State House of Assembly had Monday, expeditiously confirmed the appointment of Benjamin Maigida Ibisu as Chairman of the Taraba state Fiscal Responsibility Commission, in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Commission Law No. 7 of 2011 (as amended).
This is sequel to a letter sent to the House from the Office of the Executive Governor, Taraba state with the title: Re: Submission of Chairman and Members of Fiscal Responsibility Commission Law No. 7 of 2011 (as amended).
The letter reads: “You graciously passed into Law the Fiscal Responsibility Commission Law No. 7 of 2011 (as amended) and on the 9/8/2016, I assented to it. The earlier version of the said Law hitherto allowed single tenure for the Chairman and the members, but the amended version approved for a second tenure’.
The letter further added that “having carefully assessed the Chairman and Members of the Commission who served previously, I found them without blemish and were also dedicated to their duty posts. Consequent upon this, I have reappointed them for a second tenure”.
The Members of the Commission include Umaru Ambi Zorto, Anita Vakude Amali (Mrs) and Hon. Hassan Abubakar.
During the plenary session presided over by Speaker, Abel Peter Diah, the House had a resolution confirmed the appointees while the Speaker directed the Clerk, Ismailu Ukwen Tentason, to communicate the governor about the development.
In another development, the Taraba state Survey Bill, 2016 has passed through first reading in the House after it was laid before the House by Chairman, House Committee on Transport and Disaster Management, Emmanuel Dame.
The long title of the Bill reads; A Bill for a Law to make provision for the establishment of the Office of the Surveyor General appointment thereof, the survey of Lands in the State and for other purposes connected in addition to that.
The Bill was then referred to the Business and Rules Committee for further deliberations.
