The people of Yangtu Special Development Area of Taraba State have described the Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku’s skills acquisition training as a dream come through.

img-20161115-wa0007Speaking through the Deputy Coordinator of the Area, Mrs Charity N. Andetur, and the Coordinator Mr Cephas Maiyaki disclosed that it had been their earnest desire to train women and youths in valuable skills that can make them self-reliant.

While commending the Hope Afresh Foundation’s initiative in organising the free skills acquisition training, she said that the people of Yangtu had been excited, preparing and waiting anxiously for the Foundation’s team to reach them and they have seen that her Excellency is indeed a mother to all.

Mrs Andetur disclosed that when she assumed duties as Deputy Coordinator of the Development Area, it was her prayer to at least establish ten women to be able to support their families.

This led to organising Basic Literacy Classes for three hundred women who were graduated after nine months. She described the Governor’s wife’s intervention as a dream come through for the people of Yangtu and vowed her full support for the success of the program.

In her words, “we also trained women in tailoring for nine months but lacked funds to establish them”.

Mrs Andetur emphasised that Yangtu has laid a solid foundation for the Hope Afresh Foundation to build on. Hence she appealed passionately to the Taraba State Government to remember Yangtu women and support them in the provision of sewing machines to enable the trained women to commence work.

Earlier, the Kwe Kwambai, Mr Emmanuel Adamu Ikoti in his palace commended Governor Darius Ishaku and his wife for using the little resources at their disposal to make significant development.

He was optimistic that the training would positively engage youth in his community helping to curb harmful vices and restiveness among them. Adding that the Development Area had been awaiting this for a long time.

Responding, the representative of the Governor’s wife, the Administrative Officer of the Hope Afresh Foundation, Barr. Nungrimam Dashe stated that the project is evidence that Her Excellency is committed to bequeathing women with useful skills to enable them to have food on their tables constantly.
