Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has revealed that plans have already been put in place to expand the Jalingo Airport to accommodate much bigger Aircraft most especially now that work will soon commence at the Mambila Hydro Electric Power Project in the State.
Darius Ishaku said this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, explaining that, it is one of the developmental strategy put in place to open up the State stressing that, it would be logical to expand the airport and as well create employment for the teeming youths of the State.
He stressed that if the Airport begins to accommodate bigger Airport it will definitely spark up commercial activities thereby engaging the people productively and which will further boost the internally generated revenue of the State.
The State Governor maintained that his Government is poised to turn things around in all facets towards boosting the State’s economy and also improve on the living condition of the people.
Speaking further, he affirmed that there is a major turnaround in the Agricultural sector, electricity, provision of water, roads construction, education, tourism including women and youth empowerment despite the lean resources at his disposal.
Darius Ishaku also revealed that leakages of salaries have substantially been blocked and that money saved would be plough into infrastructural development in the State.
The Governor also remarked that more proactive mechanism are in place to woo foreign and local investors into the State to help expand business activities that would project the State in good light.
He commended Tarabans for harkening to his call for peace and praised them for maintaining peace which he attributed it to the zero tolerance stance he took and with complementary efforts and support of the Traditional rulers, Religious leaders and various security agencies in the State.
Commenting on the Peoples Democratic Party’s crisis, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku expressed optimism that very soon the impasse would be resolved as it was the handiwork of mischief makers who are not members of the party that would want the crisis not to end because of reasons best known to them and posited that their evil machinations will soon be put to shame.
Governor Darius Ishaku further stated that under democratic governance, the opposition is bound to tinker with the political process and queried the rationale of some opposition parties who criticises governance without facts.
The Governor said he welcomes and accepts constructive criticism that are not malicious but those that are germain and pointing towards the development of the State.
Accordingly, Darius Dickson Ishaku also opined that Nigerians have a lot to learn from the just concluded elections of the United States that produced Donald Trump as the president if the country really wants to make headway in its Democracy.
