The need for people of Gashaka Local Government Area to be more vigilant and enhance mutual coexistence dominated the maiden edition of Peace and Security meeting which the new Lamdo Gashaka, Alhaji Zubairu Mohammadu Sambo is participating for the first time.
The Peace and Security meeting which took place in the Palace of Lamdo Gashaka recently, dwelt extensively on the urgent need to fortify the security of the area most especially now that farmers are busy harvesting their farm produce and grazers may soon invade the area looking for conducive place to graze.
Chairing the meeting, the Chairman of Gashaka, Hon. Mohammadu Gayam stated that Gashaka provides a suitable area for animals to graze on and pointed out that very soon there would be an influx of Fulani herdsmen as he tasks all the District Heads, Ward Heads and Village Heads to work collaboratively to ensure that they take note of people that come into their respective areas.
Hon. Gayam maintained that the current security situation in the country is so precarious, that proactive and workable measures would have to be put in place to combat any form of unforeseen security breach, stemming from people that come in with evil intention.
He stressed that Gashaka is one of the most peaceful Local Councils in the State, pointing out that efforts will be intensified to improve on the existing peace so that people will comfortably go about their normal businesses without fear.
The Chairman said, Gashaka Local Government is very strategic most especially now that the State Government is determined to open up viable opportunities in all nooks and crannies of the State, adding that, Gashaka is home to the largest game reserve in the whole of West Africa among other potentials that are yet to be harnessed.
Hon. Gayam beckoned on all to make it a point of duty to regularly intimate all the relevant security apparatus whenever there is a new person in their domain as well as people with suspicious character.
He also used the forum to warn people of the area not to combine religion and politics, explaining that people who combine the two only do so for their selfish interest which often put peaceful coexistence into jeopardy and challenged all religious leaders to ensure that they preach peace in their places of worships.
Similarly, the new Lamdo Gashaka, Alhaji Zubairu Mohammadu Sambo reiterated the need for all to live in peace with one another, emphasising the present Administration of Arc. Darius Ishaku is working assiduously to ensure that peace is achieved, maintained and sustained throughout the State and called on them to key into it with utmost commitment and sincerity.
Lamdo Zubairu Sambo maintained he will try to ensure peace reign supreme in his domain and pointed out Gashaka is enormously blessed and the people can only enjoy it if there is peace and harmonious coexistence among all the ethnic groups in the area.
He however pointed out to the the District heads, Ward heads and Village heads to work closely with the security Agencies to ensure that they keep a close watch on people that come into their areas as well as monitoring the activities of Fulani herdsmen regularly.
The security and peace meeting was attended by all security Agencies, religious leaders, District heads, Ward heads, Village heads and Stakeholders of Gashaka Local Government.
