Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has appreciated the Royal Fathers of Ardo Kola and Jalingo Local Government Areas for the support they accorded him in the 2015 election.
Darius Dickson Ishaku appreciated the Royal Fathers on Easter Sunday in Bakin Dutse of Ardo Kola Local Government area, saying that, he ougth to have thanked them before now if not for the litigations that lasted for almost two years and took most of his time.
Darius Ishaku maintained that, since he is now through with all kinds of litigations, it behooves on him to come and say thank you to those who stood by him during the period of the electioneering campaign that culminated into the victory that today has led to his being the Governor.
He stated that he had also come to reassure them that, he is determined to do more for the progress and development of the State.
The Governor appealed to the traditional rulers to always intimate him on issues that will fast track development and to also draw his attention whenever things go wrong or are about to go wrong, positing that, it is the duties of the traditional institution to ensure that they mobilise and sensitise their subjects on the policies and programmes of government.
Governor Ishaku reiterated his resolve to always engage the traditional rulers positively so that he can work with their opinion and suggestions for the overall interest of the State.
The Governor further appreciated them for harkening to his continuous call for peace which has significantly helped his administration to achieve substantial amount of peace in the State.
He told the Royal Fathers that the Greenhouse project he initiated has started the production of vegetables and has also employed about 500 staff adding that the dualization of Kona road commencing from Roadblock roundabout to Kona village has been completed, stresing that, his administration intends to extend the road to Lau Local Government Area.
The Governor mentioned that all the projects he inherited from the immediate past administration have either been completed or nearing completion and added that, water scarcity in Jalingo and its environs will soon be a thing of the past from now till 2035.
Governor Ishaku said another problem his administration is working hard to resolve is the issue of salaries of Local Government workers and that of primary schools teachers in the State and assured the traditional rulers that no amount of pressure will thwart the ongoing biometric exercise until the exact number of Local Government workers and that of primary school teachers is verified and authenticated for the purpose of transparency.
Speaking on behalf of the Royal Fathers from Jalingo which had in attendance of the Galadima Muri, Alhaji Tukur Abba Tukur and Kuru Kona, Kuru Augustine Njenmang Vengkani ll, the Galadima said this is the first time since the creation of Taraba state for a sitting Governor to bring Royal Fathers together with a view to thanking them and even the people of the state.
Tukur Abba Tukur disclosed that, it is also the first time in the history of the state for a Governor to holistically complete all the projects that were started by the immediate past administration being vigorously pursued, some completed while some are ongoing.
He maintained that whoever is coming into Jalingo for the first time will know that there are changes here in the State capital and beyond and assured the Governor that all the Royal Fathers will work collectively to ensure that there is peace in all the nooks and crannies of the State so that development will thrive significantly.
Speaking further, the Galadima of Muri appealed to Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku to help the traditional rulers by enacting laws that will give them the right to scrutinize any visitor within their domains for the purpose of knowing any visitor in order to checkmate the activities of intruders or personswith dubious and questionable character.
Tukur Abba Tukur maintained that with such laws in place it will curb unnecessary breakdown of law and order in the State and lamented that most of the crises that occur in the state and in the country are constantly being blamed on the Royal Fathers.
The Galadima of Muri thanked the Governor for the honour accorded them saying that, they will continue to drum more support for his administration to record unimaginable success.
Meanwhile, the Wakili of Mayo Ranewo who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers in Ardo Kola said, his coming as the Governor of the state has help in restoring peace in some parts of the State, adding that, before his emergence there were lots of tension and skirmishes among the people of the State. He stressed that all those tensions have been doused and the people of the State can comfortably sleep with their eyes closed.
The Wakilin Mayo Ranewo told the Governor that they are ready to support his peace drive in the state so that the people can once again live peacefully with one another.
