Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has said he is collaborating with some Governors to ensure that ranching is adopted as against open grazing to end the hostilities between herdsmen and farmers across the Country.
Gov. Ishaku who disclosed this while addressing worshipers during a Sunday service at Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria CRC-N Magami Jalingo.
The Governor noted that grazing reserves which is being advocated in some quarters cannot solve the problem of herdsmen and farmers clashes, saying it would not stop movement of cattle as ranching would do.
He noted that ranching remains the best and permanent solution to the lingering dispute between herdsmen and farmers which has led to the wanton destruction of lives and property across the Country.
The Governor also announced that plans have been concluded for the Jalingo Airport to start daily operations before the end of the month.
According to him, daily flight at the Jalingo Airport would assist in airlifting of at least one tonne of Taraba vegetables including cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes to other parts of the Country for sale.
While reiterating his administration’s commitment in repositioning the State, Gov. Ishaku said the daily flights operations would be a big boost to the State economy as investors and Government officials would have easy access to and from the State.
“Our Rescue Mission Agenda is touching the lives of Tarabans in all sectors of the economy and I hope that before the end of my tenure a lot would have been achieved,” he said.
