The Taraba State Government is working out modalities aimed at providing potable drinking water to rural dwellers in the State via the ongoing water project in the State.

This was revealed to Journalists today by the Commissioner of Water Resources, Barr. Emmanuel Gowon Halan during an interview at the Government House, Jalingo.

Barr. Emmanuel Gowon maintained that requisite machinery have been kick-started including an appropriation of over two hundred million Naira to speed up the process and as well give impetus to the project to commence soonest.

He further informed newsmen that, funds have also been released to commence the sinking of about one hundred boreholes across the State, cutting across all the sixteen local councils.

The Water Resources Commissioner mentioned that only Sardauna Local Government will not benefit from it due to the nature of its terrain, but however said, a more viable measure is being worked out to ensure water gets to every household in Gembu and its environs.
