Taraba Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku yesterday presented rice threshers, rice milling machines and automated tomato packaging machines to Taraba farmers to boost farming activities in the State.

Gov. Ishaku while presenting the empowerment tools as well as wheelchairs to the disabled people in the State at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo said the gesture was aimed at making Taraba people self reliant.

According to him, his administration in the past two years have done a lot in Water Education, Agriculture and Health sectors.

He announced that soon daily flight operations will commence at the Jalingo Airport, lifting at least one ton of produce from the Taraba Green House Farm in Jalingo to Lagos and Abuja.

The Governor who said over 12,000 people in the State were doing well in dry season farming noted that the State has the capacity to meet the rice demand of Nigeria, urging the Federal Government to assist the State in that regard.

While urging the people of the State to live in peace and unity with one another, the Governor called for support and understanding from the people to enable him deliver on his campaign promises.

Ishaku noted that the State would have witnessed more development in other sectors of the economy if not for the numerous litigations his administration was subjected to after the elections.

“It is work in progress and at the end of four years, Tarabans would appreciate more the successes of the Rescue Mission programme in the State,” he said.
