Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku says his election victory in 2015 was like passing through the eye of a needle by thunder by fire.
Governor Darius Ishaku stated this yesterday during a thanksgiving service marking his two years in office as the Executive Governor of Taraba State, which took place at the State Christians Association of Nigeria CAN Secretariat, Taraba State chapter.
Darius Ishaku lamented that almost two years were wasted as a result of some people who were determined to subvert the will of the people, saying that about two years of his administration was wasted crossing hurdles of litigations from one court to the other.
He appreciated God and people of the State for standing and supporting him all through his travails and asserted that, inspite of the challenges he has been able to make some landmark achievements in some areas.
The Governor maintained that there is an assignment to carrying out for the people of the State and stressed that, he will not relent untill the task is successfully completed, which he says bothers on illusive peace, lack of love and underdevelopment, positing that one of the Cardinal objective of the Rescue Mission is to preach love and to work out measures that will usher in speedy development of the State.
The Taraba State Governor averred that even in the face of financial hiccups his administration has been able to actively support about twelve thousand rice farmers as measures to reduce the country’s overdependence on the importation of rice and asserted that Taraba State has the capacity to supply rice requirement of the country.
Speaking on the effort being made to block leakages in the State, the Governor revealed that, there is still problem with the Primary School teachers, even with the suspension of some key officers in the finance department of the primary schools settings, but however said effort has been intensified to end it soonest.
He further added that, the issue of the Local Government staff have been successfully completed and they will soon get all their entitlements.
Darius Ishaku enumerated some key achievements to include dualization of Kona road, construction of Greenhouse, completion of projects hitherto started by the immediate past administration, sinking of over 100 boreholes across communities in the State, provision of water, improved electricity, revived about five maribound companies out of the 25 inherited as maribound, renovation of three pilot hospitals, roads construction in Jalingo and Takum and the offer of employment to some citizens of the State in some strategic Ministries.
He appreciated his wife, Barr. Anna Ishaku for standing by him and also playing a key role which led to discovery of people of Sunkuru and the subsequent creation of NGADA Special Development Area which the Governor revealed that, she has received award for her contribution in human development, particularly, Women and Youths Empowerment.
The Governor said the essence of the thanksgiving is to appreciate the people of the State and to sincerely appeal to them to imbibe the spirit of love, peace and tolerance and to accommodate each others inadequacies so that the State can forge ahead.
Darius Ishaku used the opportunity to tell the gathering to always offer positive suggestions that will help the State move forward, saying that, he is open to constructive criticism that is meant to better the lots of the State.
Earlier in his speech, the Taraba State CAN Chairman, Rev. Dr. Ben Ubeh said the two years of the present administration is worth thanking God considering the enormous challenges faced at the onset of the administration, yet it was able to make significant impact on the lives of the people.
Dr. Ben Ubeh commended Governor Darius Ishaku for a job well done and said despite the court cases, there is development that could be visibly seen which he enumerated to include, completion of palace way road, reviving the school of Nursing and Midwifery, provision of transformers to many communities, employment among other things.
He assured the Governor of continues CAN support at all times and called on the people of the State to support all his devepmental stride so that more dividends of democracy would be provided to the citizenry.
The CAN Chairman commended Barr. Anna Ishaku for being a worthy partner and for standing firmly by husband when the going was rough and tough and encouraged her not to relent in her humanitarian services.
In a sermon delivered by evangelist Philip Munlip during the thanksgiving service, focused on the biblical connotations that relates to democracy, pointing out that democracy is deeply rooted in the Holy Bible.
Evangelist Munlip quoted variously from the potions of the holy Bible to support his points which included, Psalms 95 and psalms 113, adding that, this is the first time democracy is having a seamless triumph in the country.
He maintained that the story of the Governor’s emergence is miraculous, owing to series of problems and controversies that were man made in order to thwart the will of God and the mandate of the people of the State and posited that, the emergence of Darius Dickson Ishaku is divinely ordained by God.
The preacher said Governor Ishaku is a unique Governor amongst all the Governors in the Country considering the turbulence of unimaginable wave of conspiracy, court cases and name calling among others yet he remained focus and resolute.
Evangelist Philip Munlip used the opportunity to call on the people of the State to support him, so as to consolidate on the gains made so far asserting that without those encumbrances he would have performed better than what he has already achieved.
Highpoint of the thanksgiving giving service was taking of the first scriptural reading by the Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku while Rev. Simon Jatutu, Hon. D.C. Hosea and Barr. Yusuf Akirikwen took the second, third and fourth reading respectively.
The wife of the Governor, Barr. Anna Ishaku was also part of the thanksgiving service.
