Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku is to fashion out collaborative measures with security apparatuses aimed at nipping in the bud the security challenges in the State.
Governor Darius Ishaku said this today when the Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army Yola, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Government House Jalingo.
Darius Ishaku stressed the need for cordial operational synergy between Government and Security Agencies if the Country really wants to end the security challenges that is rather getting worse day by day.
He maintained that for peace and tranquillity to abound in the Country, Government, Security Agencies and indeed the people must come together by holistically putting all hands on deck to end the menace that is claiming innocent lives each passing day.
The Governor lamented that, the sophisticated weapons in possession of herdsmen is a serious security threat to the Country and used the forum to beckon on security operatives in country to intensity efforts to track and intercept such dangerous weapons for peace to reign in the Country.
Taraba State Governor decried the high level of crime in the Country, which he said, instead of decreasing, it is rather on the increase as parts of Central and Southern parts of the State are now suitable hideouts for fleeing insurgents
He warned that, if adequate measures are not immediately put in place, it would be disastrous in the near future, saying Taraba is a complex State owing to its large numbers of ethnic groups and solicited for extra vigilance from the Security Agencies.
Arc. Darius Ishaku assured the Commandant and his entourage that, he will constantly liaise with the Nigerian Army for the maintenance and sustenance of peace throughout Taraba State and indeed the Country.
Speaking earlier, the Brigade Commander of the Nigeria Army Yola, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed said he is in the State on a working visit and to familiarise with units under his administrative command.
Bello Mohammed told Governor Darius Ishaku that, the fight against insurgency and armed herdsmen can only be successful if there is the political will at all levels in the Country.
He asserted that, Security Agencies are veritable tools in achieving peace, which needs to be taken seriously by both Government and the people as he used the opportunity to solicit for cooperation from the State Governor, adding that, the command under him is determined to work round the clock towards maintaining peace in the State.
