Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has challenged the Federal Government for not doing enough to end the incessant crises in the country.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku together with Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Danbazau and other top Security Officers recently in Jalingo.

Governor Darius Ishaku said this Friday when the Minister of Interior, Retired General Abdulrahman Danbazau who led a delegation on a fact finding on the Crisis on the Mambila Plateau in Sardauna Local Government area between Mambila and Fulani, visited him at the Government House, Jalingo.

He remarked that the Federal might deployed to help quelled the crisis in Sardauna local government area by the Federal Government is sincerely appreciated, saying that if the Federal Government had been responding to crisis situations in this manner, it would help significantly in stemming the tide of unrests in the country.

The Governor informed the minister that the situation at the moment is calm, but stressed that the unfortunate had already happened, explaining that what needs to be done now is to embark on a genuine reconciliation among the affected people.

Governor told the Minister of interior and his entourage that in an effort to permanently find lasting solution and forestall future occurrence of such crisis in the area, three different committees have been set up.

The first committee which is headed by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu is to look at remote and immediate causes of the tension that resulted into a full blown crisis.

Similarly, the second committee which is headed by the Chief of Mambila Dr SHEHU Audu Baju  and comprised of five Mambila, five Fulani, one Kambu, one Kaka, one Panso and one Igbo is to look at the areas of  their grievances and recommend to Government the appropriate measures to be taken to avert future occurrence.

The third committee which has been set up but the composition of the membership has not been completed, is the peace and reconciliation committee which the Governor disclosed would be headed by a person of sound mind, unbiased and with proven integrity so that it would be able to embark on genuine peace and reconciliation.

The Governor lamented that, most of the crisis that keeps occurring in the country are mostly caused by the elites and reminded all leaders in the country that, it is their duty to protect their subjects, stressing that, one day every leader will give account of his stewardship before God.

He said Taraba is richly endowed and the only way the potentials could be maximally harnessed for the common good of the people must be the prevalence of peace, love, trust and above all a collective resolve to work together as an indivisible people with common set goals.

Governor Darius Ishaku while responding on the death of Former Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, described him as a perfect gentleman par excellence who left lasting legacies for the state.

Darius Ishaku remarked that the state will continue to build on his legacies both politically and infrastructurally and appreciated the minister for the visit, saying that he is confident that the visit would provide a platform for the Federal Government and the state to positively reconcile the people of Mambila Plateau.

In his speech, the leader of the delegation who is the Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahman Danbazau informed the Governor that they are in the state on a fact finding mission over the crisis in Sardauna Local Government area.

Abdulrahman Danbazau stated that the public mandate of the present administration is to guarantee peace and security.

He explained that the team is in the state to carry out an on the spot assessment of the crisis in order not to rely on the information on the social and conventional media for the purpose of collaborating with the state to find permanent solution to the crisis.

The Minister commended the state government for its efforts in speedily containing the situation and added that, peace is a basic ingredient for development and posited that, the people must be sensitised on the importance of peace and mutual coexistence.

Abdulrahman Danbazau used the opportunity to condole the Government and people of the state on the demise of the former Governor of the state, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, saying that his death is a great loss not only to the state but the entire country and prayed for the repose of his soul.

The Interior Minister and his team have since proceeded to Sardauna local government area for an on the spot assessment.
