The National Patron of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria who is also the Chairman Board of Trustee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Chairman Fact Finding Mission to Taraba State on the recent crisis between farmers and herdsmen, Senator Walid Jibrin has warned those fueling the crisis in Mambila Plateau in Sardauna Local Government Area to desist forthwith or the wrath God will visit them here on earth.
Senator Walid Jibrin said this yesterday in an interview with Government House Press Crew shortly after a clossed door meeting with the Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, members of his cabinet and the high powered delegation of Miyetti Allah who are in the state on a fact finding mission on the recent crisis in Mambila between farmers and herdsmen, the Chief of Mambila, Shehu Baju, the various tribes and stakeholders of Sardauna Local Government Area, hence, the need to liaise with the State Government to find lasting solution to the problem.
He debunked the negative reports making rounds in the social media and some quotas that the Mambila crisis has tribal or religious connotation, saying that based on his interaction and finding as the Chairman of ten man committee between the Fulanis and other tribes in the Mambila Plateau, it has been discovered that the misunderstanding occurred as a result of inadequate land for both the farmers and grazers to operate on which have been bought over by wealthy individuals and which has made farming and grazing practically difficult in the area.
Accordingly, the National Patron of Miyetti Allah said, what is now remaining of the land is not enough for both farming and grazing and lamented that, instead of venting their anger on the wealthy individuals that have bought over the lands, they rather resorted to fighting among themselves which has resulted in collosal loss of lives and property including animals.
Similarly, Walid Jibrin commended the effort of the State Government for the prompt response and commitment which greatly helped in containing the situation, and described most of the reports against the State Government on the social media and other publications as false and negatively intended to further escalate the crisis.
He likened the Mambila Plateau as the Europe of Africa, situated in Taraba State and challenged the people to coexist with each other peacefully so that they can reap the benefits of the abundant natural endowment that the area is blessed with.
The National Patron of the Miyetti Allah used the opportunity to plead with the people of the State, particularly those from the Mambila Plateau to imbibe the attitude of tolerance and love for the purpose of development to thrive, stressing that, Government can only develop the area when when there is peace and mutual trust among themselves.
