Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku today appreciated the the people of the state for harkening to his call on the need to give him peace for the development of the state.

Governor Ishaku Honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Women Wing of TEKAN/ECWA
Governor Darius Ishaku said this shortly after being honoured with an Award of Excellence by the women wing of TEKAN/ECWA during their Second National Convention holding in Lutheran Church of Christ, LCCN, Mayogwoi Jalingo, hence the need to harness the vast potentials of the state if the current peace is sustained.
Darius Ishaku told the women congregation that Taraba state is richly blessed and all that is needed at the moment is peace so that all the necessary avenues would enhance growth and development would be explored inorder to make the people of the state enjoy the abundant gifts that God has bestowed on the state.
The Taraba state Governor used the opportunity to solicit for prayers for God to embellish him with an unequaled wisdom to steer the state rightly for the common good of the citizens and stressed that with right support and encouragement, the state will never lack in all spheres.
Underscoring the importance of prayers, Darius Ishaku said the devil is always working very hard to pull the state backward and tasks the women not to relent in their prayers for the state, noting that, prayers fortifies a leader to be more proactive in all that he does.
Governor Darius Ishaku mentioned that he has made significant impact in various sectors of the state, however lamented that the issue of salary is still a major problem that his administration is grappling with.
Explaining further, the Governor noted with concern that the perpetrators of salary scam are still devising other means inspite of Government’s efforts to block leakages and reiterated his determination to overcome the leakages.
He disclosed to the women that the standard of education in the state is scaling up with Taraba state recording about 67.3%, placing it eight in the country and first in the North and added that efforts is being made to rid the state from the syndrome of ghost teachers, ghost schools and unqualified teachers among other.
The Taraba state Governor solicited for support and also requested for useful suggestions from the women that will help move the state to an enviable position in the country.
In her good will message to the women wing of TEKAN and ECWA, the wife of Taraba state Governor and the initiator of Hope Afresh foundation, Barr. Anna Ishaku appreciated the women for honouring her husband with an award, saying that, it is an indication that they are in tandem with the developmental strides of her husband.
Anna Ishaku maintained that women plays very important role in the lives of their husbands and encouraged them to always take the front burner in supporting their husbands, adding, Anna Ishaku appealed to the women to always ensure that the happiness of their husbands is given priority at all times and should always compliment them where necessary.
Delivering his sermon as the Guest Speaker, Rev. Andrew Musa, the resident pastor of RCCN Kofai ATC charged the women not to loose hope and that prayers should form the integral part of their lives in every circumstance, particularly in this difficult times.
Taking his scriptural references from the book of Mark 10:46, the preacher said that no situation in one’s life is permanent except if one fails to look up to God for solution and no believer in Christ should loose hope no matter the situation.
The preacher said the choice of the theme of the convention, “Pressing On Towards Serving Christ,” is timely considering the harsh economic realities being face at the moment, reaffirming that if the situation of Berthimaus at the gate of Jericho was changed, there is nothing that God cannot do if we genuinely seek him in our daily prayers.
He challenged all political class beginning from local, state to the national level to be fair and give back to the people the dividends of democracy and as well give inspirational leadership to the citizens at all levels.
In her speech, the Chairperson women wing of TEKAN and ECWA Taraba state chapter, Mrs. Serah David Ibi said the event was organized to enrich women spirituality and to contribute to the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and appreciated men for allowing their wives to be part of the programme.
Serah David Ibi said after carefully looking at the life impacting programmes of the Governor, particularly the rescue mission, the women felt it was necessary to honour him with an Award of Excellence and to spur him to do more for the state.
The Chairperson commended his wife, Barr. Anna Ishaku for the support the Governor is receiving from her and encouraged her to do more and also praised her for giving the people of Ngada Development Area a sense of belonging backed by the instrumentality of her husband as the Governor of the state.
She prayed God to continue to strengthen them so that the rescue mission will continue to flourish to all corners of the state.
She assured Governor Darius Ishaku of their prayers and support for them to do more for the people of the state, most especially in the areas of cogent advises that would propel growth in the state.
The award of excellence was presented to the Governor by the WOWICAN National Financial Secretary of TEKAN and ECWA, Mrs. Jacqueline Sodo, which was preceded by a citation of the Governor by the Chief of Staff Government House, Rebo Usman, enumerating the achievements of the Governor since he assumed office as Governor of the state.
