Governors of Taraba and Benue States Darius Dickson Ishaku and Samuel Ortom, have agreed to work together for the progress and peaceful coexistence of their people.
This was contained in a communiqué at the end of the joint sensitization carried out in Kente, Arufu and Akwana by the duo at Ugba Youth Center, Loco Local Government Area of Benue State.
They acknowledged the peaceful atmosphere existing among their citizens living along the border corridor and urged them to continue to live peacefully.
It was further resolved that the offices of the Deputy Governors of both States, the State Boundary Commission in conjunction with the National Boundary Commission would work out modalities for the demarcation.
They agreed that at the end of the demarcation exercise, all persons from various communities that fall on either side of the divide must obey and respect the tenets and norms of that divide.
The two Governors promised to implore the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Wukari -Kwatan Sule road to ease the movement of goods, services and people living in the Area to boost Economic activities.
It stated that the two Deputy Governors would immediately convene a meeting of the Technical Committee in collaboration with the National Boundary Commission to work out modalities for the implementation.
