Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has called on the people of North East to set aside party differences and work for the development of the region.

Ishaku made the call in Government House Yola, Adamawa state during a courtesy call on the Adamawa state Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow.

The governor who is in Adamawa as the Chairman Peoples Democratic Party PDP Reconciliation Committees in charge of the Northeast maintained that working in synergy was critical to the development of the region, adding that all the people of the region must set aside political affiliation and work assiduously towards making the region one of the best in the country.

He stressed that the choice of Yola was deliberate, hence the need to encourage fraternity among the states that make up the northeast to foster unity and development.

The Governor noted that there was urgent need to bring an end to the drift from PDP to APC but rather focus more on working for the people and for the overall development of the region.

He used the opportunity to once again commend President Mohammadu Buhari for finally approving award of contract for the construction of Mambilla Hydroelectric power station in Gembu, Taraba state which has been on the drawing board for about 42 years.

According to the Governor the project has finally come to stay with the approval by the President and called on the people of the northeast to support the project saying the entire region will benefit from the project, particularly in the areas of creating jobs and repositioning the economic potentials of the region.

Earlier, Adamawa state Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow said he was overwhelmed with the choice of Yola the Adamawa state capital for the reconciliation exercise and wish the entire PDP members a successful deliberation.

Bindow said political parties were mere platform and tasks the people of the northeast to be united and remained focused in developing the region.

He lamented the setbacks suffered by the region as a result of the activities of insurgency which affected the region tremendously, but however said all hope was not lost and enjoined the people to live in peace with one another.

Bindow also used the opportunity and solicited for prayers for President Mohammadu Buhari, saying the president has good intentions for the northeast and the country in general.

The governor called on politicians in the northeast to deepen democracy for the common interest of the region.
