About 150,000 multiple registration was detected nationwide in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise (CVR), out of which 3000 is applicable to Taraba state.

This was disclosed by the Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Taraba state, Alhaji Muhammad Umar Madagali, during a stakeholders meeting held on Wednesday in Jalingo.

The CVR figures in Taraba as at 27th September, 2017, shows that a total of 47,415 persons got registered out of which 19,234 males registered and 28,181 females registered. According to the figures, the Commission had distributed 134 permanent voters card (PVC) and replaced 407 defaced PVCs and 3987 misplaced/lost PVCs.

The official who is also the acting REC in the state warned officials against underage and multiple registration.

“All Electoral Officers are warned against underage and multiple registration. Accordingly, the Eos are being instructed to ensure strict supervision of the Registration Officers to enable us have the perfect register of voters we desire in Taraba state”, he stated.
