Barring any changes in Taraba PDP, the incumbent Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, remains the only candidate that would fly the party’s flag at the 2019 General Elections.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, during a chat with our reporter in Jalingo, Monday.

According to the political aide, as far as the PDP was concerned, there is no other candidate apart from Darius Ishaku in the race and that the arrangement was that only the southern zone was eligible to produce candidates for the seat.

“For PDP, up till now, we don’t have any other candidate apart from Gov. Darius. The PDP has its formula and the formula is that the seat of governor is for southern Taraba. That is our arrangement and that is our formula. So nobody is going to contest from the Central or Northern zone.  So far we have only Gov. Darius”, he disclosed.

He however clarified that “if anyone is willing to contest, we cannot say no because this is politics”.

According to Bawa, Gov. Ishaku has achieved much and that as it stands now “Tarabans are ready to vote for him”, come 2019.

Bawa described those aspirants whose posters seem all over Jalingo city, as fake. “In real sense they don’t have the money to even buy forms to contest”, he disclosed.

On the issue of security in the state as it affects 2019, Bawa described it as unfortunate and that there were some persons who are not interested in the peace efforts of the government.

He said, “there are so many persons that are not interested in seeing that peace reigns in Taraba State. There are so many devils and when they are doing their devilish work, you can’t say no to them”.

The political aide then advised the public to attempt to register and get their PVCs as that would make sure that they had “the mandate to choose whoever they want”.
