Governor Ishaku delivering his speech during the breaking of fast with muslim faithfuls at Government House, Jalingo.
Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has called on Tarabans to live in peace with one another regardless of their different faith. He stated this during the traditional breaking of ramadan fast with the muslim ummah at the government house, Jalingo.
According to Governor Ishaku, the relative peace Tarabans enjoy today is borne out of the fact that peace is the only panacea for development and progress. He therefore charged the muslim ummah to pray for peace and unity among all and sundry.
“There cannot be any meaningful development if we don’t have a peaceful environment, so I call on our moslem brothers and sisters to use this season to pray fervently for those of us in government and the generality of our people for God’s direction and wisdom “.
Further more, Governor Ishaku appreciated the effort of the security agencies in the state for their steadfastness in ensuring the people go to bed without fear or intimidation. He however urged them to redouble their efforts so that Taraba can be a safe and secure state in Nigeria.
“Investors are willing to work with us to develop our state and explore the rich mineral resources we have but the peace that has eluded us is the reason I urge our security agencies to do more and we as a government will back them up ”.
He called on traditional rulers who are the custodians of our cultures to be vigilant and not to allow strangers into their domain stressing that most crisis that the state has saw in recent times were as a result of strangers who infiltrated our local community. Governor Ishaku thanked the traditional council for their support and promised to always seek their advice when the need arises.
The event had in attendance the deputy Governor Engineer Haruna Manu, Speaker Taraba State House of assembly Rt. Hon. Peter Abel Diah, Secretary to the State Government, Anthony Jellason, Head of Service, members of the Executive Council, traditional rulers, Political appointees and security heads.
