Governor Darius  Ishaku on Tuesday restated his commitment to ensuring good governance in Taraba. The Governor made the disclosure at the Sheraton Hotel Abuja, where he was awarded the Best Performing Governor in Water Transformation by Nigerian Water Supply Association.
Speaking at the event which had in attendance other Governors and Ministers, Governor Ishaku attested that water is life as it supports human existence. According to him, this substantiates the zeal of his administration in ensuring potable water supply to both urban and rural dwellers of the State.
Represented by his Deputy,  Engr. Haruna Manu, Governor Darius Ishaku said Government in conjunction with African  Development Bank (AFDB) have invested close to N10bn into the rehabilitation and upgrade of existing water infrastructure and building of new ones.
“While we were doing all these,  little did we know that your association was watching us and we feel honoured to be listed amongst the recipients of the Waterman Award of the year.  “Having realized the global move towards sustainability, we have carried out several reforms in the water sector to ensure that the taps do not run dry.
“We are committed to supporting the state water agency to achieve its goals through reforms towards sustainability,” he said. He thanked the Nigeria water supply Association and all stakeholders for the gesture, saying “it would spur him to do more.”
