The Commissioner of Police, Taraba State command, David Aderemi, was attacked by rampaging youths in Jalingo in the early hours of Monday.
According to the Police Spokesman David Misal, the unfortunate event happened in Gadan Bagogi area of Jalingo metropolis, when Aderemi went on an operational visit to the vicinity which is said to be suffering from the excesses of miscreants and gangs of late.
During the tour, the boys threw missiles at the security team and as a result a missile hit the Police boss on the head, injuring him in the process, Misal says.
However, Aderemi was said to have been treated of the injury and discharged.
Meanwhile, 50 suspects in connection with the attack were arrested after a prompt police crackdown of the thugs, David Misal disclosed.
Jalingo, the Taraba State capital has been troubled of late by neighbourhood gangs who fight with rival gangs and rob and attack innocent residents. They are said to work under the heavy influence of drugs and usually perpetrate the act on commercial tricycles.
