Governor Darius Ishaku has asked pensioners yet to be enrolled on the payroll to be  patient as his administration is working assiduously to tackle their problem.

The Governor made the plea while receiving the report of the Local Government and State universal staff pension verification committee at the Government House in Jalingo.

He assured that the mystery surrounding their payment would soon be sorted out as mechanisms are already in place to resolve the matter in spite of  the lean resources in the government coffers.

Governor Ishaku however lamented that  salaries of pensioners is always on the increase despite recorded deaths.

The Governor assured people of the state of prudent use of state resources to initiate more developmental programs.

Earlier, the State auditor general Polycarp Ireneous who is the chairman of the committee stated that from their verification exercise, the monthly bill of pensioners who appeared for verification was 11.3 million.

He however stressed that they discovered the names of eighty one pensioners who had died on the pension payroll with bill of over 2.3million.

Ireneous further disclosed that a hundred and three people failed to show up for the verification exercise.

According to him, there were new retirees who needed to be enrolled into the state pension scheme with those who were re engaged after the twenty sixteen exercise but faced problems with their Bank Verification Numbers.

The auditor general thanked Governor Ishaku for his  commitment to paying local government and state government pension regularly.
