Takum the hometown of Gov. Darius Ishaku was on Friday, set in a frenzy as the governor stormed the area ahead of Saturday’s House of Assembly bye-elections for Takum 1 constituency.

The governor’s entourage was however, received by party stakeholders at Takum which include Senator representing Taraba North, Shuaibu Isa Lau, as well as some members of the National Assembly and government officials.

Also, enthusiastic party supporters welcomed the governor where a large convoy led the governor to Chanchangi town where he had a parley with the Tiv community as well as commissioned some projects.

Highlight of the tour was the commissioning of the Community and Vulnerable Groups Micro-Projects, Additional Financing by the Taraba state Agency for Community and Social Development Project (World Bank Assisted) at the Takum General Hospital.

In his speech during the occasion, Gov. Ishaku stated that when he came on board, the project was practically dead and that it was a deliberate effort of his administration to partner with CSDP. Ishaku disclosed that the state government had paid its counterpart funds which made it possible for the project to be executed.

Meanwhile, all is set for the conduct of the Takum 1 Constituency by-election on Saturday. Top contenders for the seat are PDP’s Ajiya Garba and APC’s Atem Ansho.
