, following his victory at the by-elections held last week.

The new Member was sworn in during plenary, presided over by Speaker Abel Peter Diah.

While speaking with Journalists on how he plans to manage the short period available to him, Garba said, “I know it’s a very strategic time but with God on my side I can still do what is left undone. I have a priority and I know I can achieve that in the next six months”.

He disclosed that the unity of his people was his priority considering the volatile situation in the constituency where armed robbery and kidnapping thrive and that he believes “we can have a law that can deal with it”.

“We had crisis there and I know God brought me to be a bridge builder among the various tribes and my priority is to bring understanding among my people”, he stated.

Earlier on the previous day, INEC presented the Member with a certificate of return in a ceremony held in Jalingo.

The new Member is taking the place of Late Hosea Ibi, who was kidnapped in December 2017 and brutally murdered in January 2018 in Takum by certain persons who have since been arrested.
