Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Ishaku on Monday urged Tarabans and Nigerians to be patriotic and committed in promoting virtues that would help the state and the country at large to meet her goals.
In a message to mark the 58th years of Nigeria independent, the governor called on all to stay loyal and patriotic to put the country for sustainable peace and development.
The Governor’s message was contained in a Press Statement issued in Jalingo on Monday and signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bala Dan Abu.
The statement quoted Ishaku as saying,
“Nigeria remains the only country we have and I urge all us to do everything possible through loyalty and commitment to have the Nigeria of our dreams.
“It is by being committed and loyal that we can help make sure that the country takes its rightful place in the comity of nations,” the statement read.
Ishaku used the opportunity to thank all delegates, the Independent National Electoral Commission and Security Agencies for the peaceful conduct of the governorship primary election on Sunday where he emerged the candidate of the PDP in next year’s general elections.
He assured the people of Taraba of good governance if re-elected next year, adding that he will do more than what he had so far achieved if re-elected.
“I urge all of Tarabans to support my candidature so that the good things we have started will be completed and consolidated.
“I want to thank the people of Taraba for their overwhelming support and confidence reposed in me. For a party like PDP to have me as a sole governorship candidate is unprecedented,” he said.
