The Taraba State Government has condemned the recent misguided outbursts of Bobboi Kaigama, president of the Trade Union Congress, TUC.
In a press statement signed by Bala Dan Abu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, the labour leader’s tirade in an interview on a television station was said to have been borne out of “frustration and misdirected anger”.
“Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama, president of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, and an indigene of Taraba State exhibited a highly regrettable amount of indiscretion, ignorance and an inclination for mischief when, in the name of playing the game of politics, he recently launched an unprovoked attack on the government of his state.
He stated that “It was clear that the so-called labour leader was taking advantage of the opportunity of an interview granted him by a television station to pour out his frustrations that have accumulated from his many years of a failed mission in the politics of the state, particularly his recent bid for the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Taraba State.
“In his frustration, Kaigama became a victim of amnesia. He couldn’t even remember the fact that had become a sing-song that the state government had paid salaries of its workers consistently since it came into office in 2015, even though he is one of the beneficiaries of these payments.
Citing a letter, Ref.TUC/TSG/Vol 1/001 which he personally wrote and signed dated July 6,2018, he disclosed that “Bobboi Bala Kaigama who was then director, Town Planning, admitted being paid his salaries up to February 2018, a month before he left the civil service. If the government doesn’t pay salaries as he had claimed in the interview, then who paid the ones he admitted to have collected? He queried.
According to the statement, “His allegation in the said television interview that the State Government under Governor Darius Ishaku has commissioned no projects since it came into office only goes to prove that this Abuja-based labour leader is completely out of touch with the state and its people. This may be the reason for his consistent woeful failure in the politics of Taraba State.
“The questions generated by the tissues of lies he sought very desperately to market through his television appearance are:
1. Where was Bobboi Kaigama when our distinguished elder statesman, General T.Y Danjuma came into the state on several occasions and commissioned many projects in Takum, Wukari and Jalingo? These projects included hospitals, electricity, water and roads.
2. Where was Bobboi Kaigama when Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, came to Taraba State and commissioned the gigantic Greenhouse, water projects and Kona Road? All of these projects were initiated and completed by the Ishaku administration in Jalingo.
3. Again, where was Bobboi Kaigama when Governor Darius Ishaku went round the state and commissioned many newly built or renovated school buildings, instructional materials, tractors and other agricultural machinery as well as start-up equipment worth billions of Naira given free to beneficiaries of the very innovative and laudable skills acquisition programmes of the Ishaku administration?
4. Bobboi Kaigam could not also remember the 250 boreholes in 250 communities which have taken water to almost every community in the state and the revival of six moribund government-owned companies including the popular Highland Tea produced in Kakara, his home village in Taraba State which have created many job opportunities for many of our unemployed youths?
“It is not surprising, therefore, that Bobboi Bala Kaigama was variously accused of duplicity and lacking in integrity by a past administration in the state. That allegation was fueled by his controversial and unlawful participation in partisan politics while he was still in the employment of the state civil service. This had earned him outright dismissal from service in 2012. He was later recalled back to work through an arranged out-of-court settlement.
“Bobboi Kaigama is hereby advised to go and find a cure for his apparently malignant amnesia. When he has done so, he will discover that he is actually, and for long, been a tenant in a glass house and should not have indulged in the reckless and senseless game of throwing stones indiscriminately” he maintained.
