The Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku has presented over Seventeen Million Naira in cheques to eleven communities in the State.
The governor made the presentation during the project launch of gender and vulnerable groups components additional finance by the Taraba State Community and Social Development Program.
Speaking at the ceremony which took place at the Banquet Hall of the Taraba Motel Jalingo, Governor Darius Ishaku appreciated the CSDP for initiating viable programs for the poor in various communities.
He said his administration had not relented in paying counterpart funds for the CSDP and pledged to always support them to cover more communities.
The Governor remarked that CSDP had reached over One Hundred and Forty Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighteen people and groups covering water, health, education, electricity, transport and socio economic aspects.
He advised the beneficiaries to sustain the project in their domains tasking the people of the various communities to also act as watchdogs.
Commenting, the General Manager of the CSDP, Irimiya Danjuma revealed that the CSDP had sunk ninety three boreholes, constructed seven health centers, eighteen classrooms, thirteen culverts, eight skills acquisition centers and two electricity projects which have been completed and put to use in six communities in the State.
He stressed that groups from Gassol, Yorro, Gashaka and Takum were yet to benefit from the first tranche of the World Bank assisted program as they await the second approval to accomodate more communities.
On her part, the Chairperson Board of the CSDP, Patricia Kumbo advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for the betterment of their communities.
There were goodwill messages from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Saleh Kakah and the Coordinator of the Ngada Special Development Area, Joseph Nagombe.
