Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku says his administration will continue to accord top priority to the health sector to enhance the psychological well being and productivity of citizens especially those with visual impairment.
He made the declaration when he flagged off a free eye care treatment organised by the State Government in conjunction with Mirai Group of Surgeons from Israel at the State Specialist Hospital, Jalingo.
“the eye is very critical and begs for immediate attention which needs experts to handle with uttermost care”.
The governor charged health professionals of the Specialist Hospital to avail themselves to learn new skills being displayed by their visiting colleagues and build cordial relationship that will enhance professional cross pollination of ideas and capacity building.
Governor Ishaku revealed that his administration had carried out several interventions in the health sector by reviving decayed infrastructure, strengthening of human resource including preventive and curative health interventions.
He thanked Tarabans for voting him in 2015 and asked them to re-elect him in 2019 to reap more dividends of democracy.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai remarked that the project by foreign experts in Ophthalmology was one of the many benefits provided by Governor Ishaku with more laudable projects billed for commissioning before the end of his administration.
Vakkai encouraged those with any form of visual impairment to seize the opportunity to enjoy free professional diagnosis and treatment.
Commenting, representative of the Mirai Group, Roy Tal assured people of the State of effective service delivery during the one week exercise and thanked Governor Ishaku for giving them the opportunity to work in the State.
