Taraba State Governor, Arch. Darius Ishaku on Sunday enjoined the people of the state to resolve to work harder for peace and unity among them as they mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In his Easter message to the people of Taraba and signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bala Dan Abu, Ishaku said, “we have had too many crises and conflicts and lost too many innocent lives and valuable properties in the past and all these must stop.
“Peace is the greatest need of the state at this point in time and we must commit ourselves to the search for it.
“I urge the people of Taraba; Christians, Muslims and traditional religious adherents to work together to achieve peace for the benefit of all.
“I congratulate all Christians on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and wish them a happy Easter celebrations.”
The Governor while felicitating with all Christians in Taraba on behalf of the government and people of the State reminded them of the importance of Easter as an outstanding festival in the Christian calendar.
Ishaku said Easter is a reminder of the great sacrifice through the death of Jesus Christ whose triumph over death through His resurrection has made salvation free for humanity.
He urged all Christians to use this occasion to reflect on the life and times of Jesus Christ, particularly, His spirit of forgiveness and empathy which saw Him healing the sick, helping the poor and preaching peace.
