Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan’s visit of Gov. Ishaku at Government House, Jalingo
Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan on Monday evening visited the Taraba state governor Darius Dickson Ishaku at the exco Chambers of government house Jalingo.
The visit came after four years of political battle between Governor Ishaku and Senator Aisha.
The former Minister of Women Affairs in Muhammadu Buhari’s first tenure was the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2015 and the gubernatorial candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP) in the 2019 general elections respectively.
She defeated Ishaku at the tribunal to reclaim her mandate but lost at both the Appeal and Supreme courts.
Speaking during the visit, Aisha congratulated governor Ishaku for emerging victorious at the March 2019 governorship election held in the state.
Aisha who described the governor as a man of honour also called him “a brother whom I will always respect”.
She said the massive transformation of the state by the Ishaku-led administration endeared her to him saying “I will always be ready to work with governor Ishaku any time I am called upon”.
Receiving the senator, governor Ishaku attributed the visit to the peace he has been yearning for as evident in his Mantral “give me peace and I will give you development”.
He pledged that they will translate the reunion to the overall development of Taraba state, adding that they were going to work together.
“Am very happy today for her coming to congratulate me, I see it as a good omen for the state because I have been yearning and crying that give me peace and I will give you development.
“Today marks the peak of it because with her coming I think we will see peace in Taraba state; because we are going to work together in most of the things and I think it will be for the benefit of the state as a whole.
“I am glad for the happening of today and I will make sure we translate it to the progress of our people”.
