The attention of the Taraba State government has just been drawn to excerpts of an interview which Hassan Ardo Tukur, Nigeria’s ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago granted the Sun newspaper recently. As usual, the ambassador spoke like a person in a perpetual blindfold, exhibiting the traits of one who can neither see nor hear well.
That’s probably the reason he got all the issues wrong.
ON THE TIV/JUKUN CRISIS
Ambassador Tukur never knew that even though Gov Darius Ishaku was abroad when the crisis broke out, his deputy, Engr Haruna Manu was on ground and jointly presided over a stakeholders meeting which helped in dousing the crisis. But Tukur twisted the facts to achieve his purpose of blackmailing Gov Ishaku by creating the impression that the Governor did not care.
The spread of falsehood is the usual trait of the All Progressives Congress and its leaders in Taraba State and so it is not surprising that Ambassador Tukur took to lying in order to impress the party’s dwindling ranks of followers.
THE VISIT OF SENATOR HAJIYA JUMAYI ALHASSAN TO GOV. ISHAKU
This visit is probably the cause of Tukur’s political diarrhoea. It has further put him and the APC in disarray.
The APC can continue with their politics of permanent bitterness and exclusiveness which saw their house collapsing like a pack of cards.
The Ishaku administration is people-centred and has its doors widely opened to indigenes of the state willing to make a contribution to the development of the state. It remains resolutely committed to the promotion and sustenance of peace among the people of the state and would not be distracted by the blackmail antics of the likes of Ambassador Tukur.
