Executive Governor
The Executive Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku has used the occassion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration by our Muslim Ummah in the state to appeal to all the warring factions in southern part of Taraba to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign.
This was contained in the goodwill message by the governor to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The governor urged them to support the numerous peace building measures jointly put in place by his administration and that of his Benue state counterpart.
He said that Eid-el-Kabir comes always with the great lesson of humility and tolerance as exemplified by the Great Prophet of Islam and also reminds us of the need for sacrifice on our part to ensure peace and prosperity in our country and state.
The governor appealed for us to, therefore, resolve on this auspicious occasion to support the efforts of government to ensure lasting peace throughout the state stressing that no sacrifice is too much for this to be achieved.
“My good people of Taraba State, let me also seize the opportunity of this Sallah celebration to restate my commitment to work with the adherents of all religions in the state to achieve peace.”
“As I have always said, there can be no development without peace. We will continue to provide an enabling atmosphere for the adherents of all religions to practice the faith of their choice freely as enshrined and guaranteed by our constitution.”
“In doing so, my administration has consistently synergized and engaged with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Muslim Council. I’m glad that this synergy has immensely assisted our people to find religious fulfillment.”
“We have, since assumption of office, pursued the policy whereby thousands of Christians and Muslims are sponsored by the administration to go on pilgrimages to Israel and Saudi Arabia.”
“Even as I address you now, hundreds of Taraba State Muslims are in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia performing their religious obligations on the sponsorship of my administration. This policy will remain an integral part of my administration.”
“I urge our pilgrims currently in Mecca and Medina to pray fervently for peace and development in Nigeria and in Taraba State. I also urge the entire Muslim Ummah back home in the State to use the opportunity of this Eid-el-Kabir to do same.”
Governor Ishaku prayed that the Almighty Allah accepts all Ibada of our Pilgrims and bring them back safely home to reunite with their loved ones and wished our Muslim Ummah Eid-el-Kabir celebration and Allah’s blessings always.
