Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Taraba State, Comrade Peter Gambo is full of praises for Gov. Darius Dickson Ishaku for the numerous labour-friendly policies of his administration.
He particularly mentioned prompt payment of salaries. Pension and gratuities, employment, women and youth empowerment as some of those policies and urged him not to relent because Taraba State is a civil service state.
Gov. Ishaku, replying, said his administration achieved a lot during its first tenure because it enjoyed the cooperation of labour in the state.
He said the union never resorted to strikes when making demands on workers welfare but tabled such issues for discussion and amicable resolution.
He urged the labour leaders to remain committed to such approach to labour and welfare issues.
Gov. Ishaku called on workers in the state to help government expose ghost workers taking money for doing nothing.
He promised that payment of gratuities which started last year would continue and called for the support of the people.
On minimum wage, Gov. Ishaku said the state government was waiting for the matter to be resolved at the federal level to decide what the state can afford.
On security, Gov. Ishaku expressed happiness that a lot has been achieved through the involvement of local security men.
He called for the support of the people of the state to consolidate on what has been achieved.
He reminded the people that kidnapping is a capital offence in the state and noted that he was waiting for the first person to be caught, tried and condemned for him to be made an example of the culprit under the law.
